The Orchard of the Lord (Psa. 1:3)

Intro: Are we guilty of having “blurry vision”? (Mark 8:17)
I. Planted by the Water
A. Rooted, connected, and stable
B. Near the source of life and nourishment
II. Producing Fruit
A. World is starving for fruit of truth, love, and hope
B. What we fill ourselves with is what grows out
C. We will be known by our fruits
III. We Shall Not Wither
A. Hearts can grow cold if we are far from God
B. God never neglects or forgets His garden
C. We will be able to withstand drought (Jer. 17:7-8)
IV. Prospering in Everything
A. Positive attitude sets up for success, happiness
B. Learn from mistakes and not be shaken by trials
V. Ungodly Trees
A. Like a bush in the desert (Jer. 17:5-6)

Intro: Jesus made a connection to a famous local prophet
I. It Really Happened
A. Jesus said Jonah was in the belly of the creature
B. Nineveh was a real city that really repented
II. God’s Power Over His Creation
A. Controlling the weather
B. Preserving Jonah’s life
III. God’s Mercy Extends to All Nations
A. God sent them a prophet so they could be spared
B. God later raised up Babylon to destroy Nineveh
   (Psa. 22:8; Jer. 27:5-7)
IV. All People are Accountable to God
A. The Ninevites had violated some law of God’s
B. There is even a Law of the Gentiles (Rom. 2:14)
V. Power of God’s Revealed Word (Rom. 1:16; Jonah 3:4-9)

A. Those who are afraid to speak for Jesus
B. Defenders of our faith (1 Pet. 3:15-16)
1. Sanctify Christ as Lord in your heart
2. Be ready to make a defense
3. Give a defense when asked
4. In gentleness and reverence
5. Good conscience and behavior gives you
   credibility when you DO speak
III. The Blind Man
A. Those who trust and obey
B. Those who stand up for Jesus
C. Gratitude and truth motivated him
D. He saw Jesus as a healer and a Savior
E. He saw his own sin and need for salvation

Truly seeing Jesus means we will see heaven!

Parts of the Gospel (Rom. 1:16)

Intro: The Bible is redemption promised and revealed
I. Person of the Gospel
A. Gospel that belongs to Christ and concerns Him
B. The good news is that sin is paid for
C. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is
   of first importance (1 Cor. 15:3-4)
II. Power of the Gospel (Roy Lanier Sr.)
A. Saves from the power of sin
B. Saves form the pollution of sin
C. Saves from the practice of sin
D. Saves from the penalty of sin
E. Saves from the presence of sin
III. Purpose of the Gospel
A. Informs us about sin
1. Law brings knowledge of sin (Rom. 3:20)
2. Lawkeeping cannot justify us (Gal. 3:11)

Intro: Jesus proved His divinity by NOT doing what we would
I. Humble In How He Came
A. His birth
1. Not a terrifying angel (Heb. 2:9)
2. Not beautiful, but ordinary-looking
B. His family (born into the working-class)
II. Humble In How He Lived
A. His ministry was not well-received
B. “Meek and lowly” (Matt. 11:29)
III. Humble In How He Died
A. Did not resist or challenge His accusers
B. Messiah suffered the most shameful death—cross
C. Prayed for His murderers
D. Died selflessly; only thinking of us
IV. Humble In How He Arose
A. Not with fanfare, but in private meetings
B. No one recognized Him
C. Not taking revenge on His enemies
D. Contrasted with how He will come again

Only God in the flesh would choose to do things
so contrary to the way WE would have done!
